It is true that many black Africans had been forcefully converted to Islam or were descendants of such converts before they were sold to the christian slave traders. But they were not considered to be true muslims by the slavers who sold them. Up to the present day we have a similar situation in Sudan and Mauretania. The conversion to Islam is only a further instrument of humiliation, it doesn’t help the victims to gain an equal status among muslims Several facts make it impossible that the black Africans were real, accepted muslims: Fact 1: Christians of European origin did never conduct raids against black Africans with the purpose to capture slaves. Only muslims were slave hunters. Christians only traded with slaves who were sold to them already with the status of a slave. Fact 2: In Islam it is illegal to keep another muslim as slave. Therefore all black slaves were for some reason not conbsidered real muslims. To sell a muslim to a non-muslim would be completely unthinkable. Fact 3: There were no Arabs among the African slaves sold to the Christian slave traders. Of course Christians were guilty of being accomplices in this dark chaptor of human history. But the real villains were the muslims. By the way, black muslims never contributed anything to the resistance against the white slave masters. The only successful slave rebellion took place in Haiti, and it was started by black animists who laid the fundament of today’s Voudoo religion. Many black rebels were also converted Christians. But it was never heard of any black muslim who fought against the white slavers, nor was any mosque built in Haiti after the country was liberated from the French colonists.
