- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Pope Attacks Roots of Terror # In pointed remarks, the pontiff tells Muslim leaders in Germany that ‘teaching is the vehicle’ to promote peace or sow seeds of fanaticism. By Tracy Wilkinson, Times Staff Writer August 21, 2005 latimes.com COLOGNE, Germany – Pope Benedict XVI chose unusually tough language Saturday to tell Muslim leaders they must work harder to combat terrorism and steer youths away from "the darkness of a new barbarism." On the third day of his first foreign trip as pope, Benedict met with 10 representatives of Germany’s growing Muslim community as part of his effort to reach out to other faiths. But he quickly dispensed with the diplomatic niceties and zeroed in on the "cruel fanaticism" of terrorism and the responsibility of religious leaders and educators to prevent it. "You guide Muslim believers and train them in the Islamic faith," he told his select audience at the archdiocese in Cologne. "Teaching is the vehicle through which ideas and convictions are transmitted…. There is no room for apathy and disengagement, and even less for partiality and sectarianism." Benedict condemned terrorism as a "perverse and cruel decision" that "shows contempt for the sacred right to life and undermines the very foundations of all civil society." Terrorists, he said, falsely use religion to poison relations among faiths. Benedict’s meeting with the Muslims was not televised, in contrast to his high-profile visit to a synagogue the day before. His pointed remarks were made to a community with whom his relations were already strained, and marked a departure from the papacy of John Paul II, who worked to promote interfaith dialogue. In his previous post as enforcer of church doctrine, the former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger had been quite critical of Islam in a number of his writings. Before and after becoming pope in April, he voiced alarm at the loss of Christian identity. He was particularly concerned about Europe, where the rise of multiculturalism has included the accommodation of Islam. Benedict has been careful, however, not to link terrorism and Islam, and did not go along with an aide’s attempt to condemn the July 7 bombings in London by suspected Islamic militants as an anti-Christian act. Several Muslim community leaders said they were disappointed that the pope did not visit a mosque, as he had the synagogue, and said that had he done so his message would have had more power. Emerging from Saturday’s meeting, Muslim leaders sought to find common ground with the pontiff. "Terrorism is not only a problem that comes up in countries where there are Christians," said Ridvan Cakir, president of the Turkish-Islamic Union in Europe, who led the delegation that met with the pope. "It’s a problem that we all share," he told reporters. "We all have to be aware of that problem and fight against it." Benedict’s relations with Islam were already much more complicated than those of John Paul, the first pope to visit a mosque. Muslim leaders here said privately that they were very worried about the new pontiff and what they considered to be his anti-Islamic views. Most Muslims in Germany are of Turkish heritage. As cardinal, Benedict had spoken out against admitting predominantly Muslim Turkey to the European Union, saying such a move would dilute the continent’s Christian character. Turks were outraged at what they saw as an ethnic slur. Mahmut Askar, a prominent Muslim leader in Cologne, said he was not surprised at the pope’s stern lecture. Muslims, he said, are routinely and unfairly blamed as a group for the terrorism committed by a handful of extremists. "We are used to this," Askar, a Turkish-born engineer who has lived in Germany for more than three decades, said in an interview. He is the secretary-general of a group that represents Turkish Muslims in Germany. "No one would blame Christianity for terror acts committed by a Christian. But Muslims are always blamed," he said. "What else can we do to show the world that we are not born terrorists?" Still, Askar chose his words carefully and chose to thank the pope rather than criticize him. "With everyone referring these days to the ‘war of civilizations,’ it is very important that we dialogue," he said. Germany has one of the oldest and largest Muslim populations in Western Europe. The country is home to at least 3 million Muslims, about 2.5 million of whom are Turks who for decades lived in a largely separate culture that only now is integrating into the larger German society. Seyda Can, one of three women who attended the meeting with the pope and one of two wearing a head scarf, said she believed in the pope’s call for a stronger dialogue between Christians and Muslims. "When we have this dialogue, we will have trust and we won’t be afraid," Can, 27, told reporters after the meeting. "With the dialogue, terrorism will be finished." Benedict is in Cologne to preside over World Youth Day, a raucous festival that has brought an estimated 700,000 young Catholics to this city on the Rhine for a week of prayer, music and celebration. The young pilgrims, from nearly 200 countries, gathered in a massive field outside the city for a three-hour prayer vigil with the pope Saturday night and then camped out so they could attend Benedict’s concluding Mass today. In his remarks to the Muslim leaders, almost all of whom were Turkish, Benedict acknowledged that Christians, too, had killed in the name of religion. "How many pages of history record battles, and even wars, that have been waged with both sides invoking the name of God, as if fighting and killing the enemy could be pleasing to him?" he said. "The recollection of these sad events should fill us with shame, for we know only too well what atrocities have been committed in the name of religion."

Considering the complexity in management of all stars & creatures in the Universe, do you really think god really cares about little germs like us, human beings? God is only within you. I really think that religious arguments are ultimately bad things because anyone that throw around are these "truths" which to many people aren’t true at all. Maybe you think you’re just arguing with Cody but the reality is that you will make statements that are inconsiderate of or insulting to other people who participate here who then are put in the position of saying something back – and maybe increasing the heat level – or not saying anything and letting things go unchallenged. It’s just not a good situation.

Actually, that does not scientifically prove your statement.  Religion is an attempt at an answer to the unhappiness and suffering of mankind.  Removing these religions will not make this go away. Poverty and sickness won’t go away. > Need a list?

No, some wars have been linked to religion but that usually a mask over underlying greed and quest for power.

ahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!! ////////// I notice you didn’t say anything about Geb Bixer’s sick lies: Cody has a vendor cart. He parks it in front of his mum’s brothel. And yes, coincidently, he keeps a statue of Buddah on display, next to a can of lighter fluid, magnifying glass and an icepick.. Surrounding the statue are campo turds. He trys to sell these campo turds as breath enhancers to Nigerian fleet sailors who have gone just down on his mum. But you see, he never sells any thing to any one. Nothing Cody has ever done has ever been right. Cody is a total fuck up en completus! Case in point: he figured if he smoked or ate the campo turds himself, he would set an example that others would follow. Of course it didn’t work. Since he was located in front of a whore house and none of the whores (except his mum [and only when she drunk and delerious]) would let him touch them, he decided to spank his own monkey. The problem was that he is so under endowed that the act required a magnifying glass, ice pick and a can of lighter fluid. One day after 1500 Mandingos had been serviced by his mum in a circular "around the world" scenario, Cody lost it; went wild beating off with the ice pick, and punctured the lighter fluid can. The can exploded in flames. The magnifying glass was so close to his face the heat from the fire intensified setting his rancid campo turd infested nose hairs on fire. Looking for water to douse the flames he picked up the statue of buddah by mistake, and in the melee got confused and rammed it up his ass. Such is the life of Cody the gutless wonder who is not on, nor ever will be, on tx. He haunts the hep-c newsgroup trying to take advantage of those in a weakened state who are. You have a marvelous way of embellishing the truth, Cody.  Fact is, you’re the only one that’s gotten fart gas in his face from me, and the only imaginary groping i’ve done is on folk that can appreciate the humor.  If I’ve groped someone in an objectional manner, let them tell me and I’ll keep my hands to myself.  Aside from my joking about you living in a campo garbage can (now who would really believe that, anyway?) what lies have I told about people?   You seem to have forgotten your insults to Lana, HC, Bobby, Dez, Mom, all the Christians, american veterans, etc., which precipitates having dog turds thrown at you in your campo garbage can.     Elmo /////////// Just curious, what have I posted that is objectionable? Compared to lying about people like Elmo and Geb do, I am quite civilized. I don’t throw imaginary turds at anyone. I don’t tell people I am going to fart in their face or grope their tits and ass like Elmo does. How come you don’t take them to task for what they do? Fact: misleading religions and philosophies like Christianity, Judaism and Islam are the fundamental causes for the unhappiness of mankind and unless someone here is not a part of mankind, it affects them, hep C free, infected or otherwise. People often make a joke of that which they cannot understand or comprehend, preferring not to deal with ‘it’. There is a truth behind everything, for those willing to undertake the journey of using their imagination and logic. Motives (who benefits from what?) reveal the real truth, often. The real teachings of ‘Jesus’ is in the Talmud Jmmanuel text. www.tjresearch.info Christianity is a ‘cult’ – likewise most religions are. The Bible is not an accurate pieve of historical text / etc. It isn’t trustworthy, nor divine. Like Santa Claus, it is there for show. The truth is very startling and often unbelievable… Harvey

I’ve never thought the actual words of Jesus were anything but groovy advice, but there’s not much in there to support the concept of the church, or religious wars, or quite a lot of the things that people do in Jesus’ name. Jesus spoke in parables.  He taught with stories, and analogies.  Let it grow like a mustard seed, etc. But for some reason if you suggest to most Christians that the ‘Kingdom of Heaven’ is a metaphor, instead of a place in the clouds we go to after we die they get all cranky like they missed thier naps. I have no real wish to become someone famous, where their word or belief means something, etc. When I searched for ‘truth’ it does not matter to me, the ‘I’ – in that I tried to search for truth impersonally. I acknowledge there is a certain ’structure’ that’s in place – which everyone acknowledges, mostly unconsciously, and few consciously. Yet at the same time, that structure needs to be overhauled, so that truth is truth, and honesty is honesty, and sincerity, sincerity, etc. I do seek to unify things, to understand – that is what I hope if my ‘mission’ here so to speak, my purpose here. At times my life is bearable and at others, unbearable. Some may feel the beliefs that I align myself to are wacko, or are very strange and obscure – that of the Billy Meier story -> Talmud Jmmanuel, ancient civilisations of advanced technology, and ETs. They are no more wacko than that of Christianity and the Bible, the Jesus story and Christian tenets. Except there’s physical proof of those I believe in, and colloborative stories that are supportive, in our modern times. I am going through my videotapes at the moment, I tape stuff of 60 minutes, 20/20, the news, and documentary style programs, etc. There’s the story of an American boy who’s fascinated by Corsairs, and know about their tyres blowing out often. He has a memory of being a fighter pilot flying Corsairs. Reincarnation has more going for it, than anything else. The discussions at www.figu.org say that turn around times for reincarnation are on average around 150 years – to be mentally OK. If you come back too soon, it isn’t altogether too healthy for you – because memories of the past life, may still linger. In the next 6-12 months I hope that my life starts getting itself together? Harvey – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->How happy do your beliefs make you feel? >- Michaela >> Retrospectively 1986–>1989 has been the peak >> period in which I did do something at that time, >> making my mark here, perhaps things won’t kick >> off for me again, until next year? >> In which my true purpose here will be revealed. >> That magic number in one’s life, in which one >> feels one’s true purpose is realised. >> Sorry that I’m sounding rather obscure here, >> but obscurity was my trademark for a while, >> a long time ago. >> We are all here to be ‘ourselves’ and to simply >> be made into a cog into society etc is a cop out. >> Real imagination and inventiveness demands that you >> don’t be that way at all. >> And the world does need straightening out, particularly >> the USA. I firmly believe that one truth, supports another, and another, and so on, giving that structural framework of knowledge that does unify everything. Everyone is equal in the sense, that being human means you’re equal to everyone else, needing the same bare minimum in air, food, clothing, shelter, etc. You should know that there is an unfair distribution of such things in this world. Clearly there is enough to go around, but it means that people cannot live in luxury, those that do . This is of course common sense. Instead of the whole wide world, picture a classroom, and there’s enough food to feed the class, if one person hoards food, or eats to excess, that’ll leave someone unfed, likewise with other necessities. This is a fundamental truth. If you were living in just a classroom, you would want to clean up your own mess – the same applies to the world. In the past it was neglible, what man did to the planet, but that is not possible anymore, as we see the effects of neglect for so long. Applying the same simple logic to other problems, highlight what is needed. A clear rethink about how to handle the solution. Also such simple logic applied to the world’s mysteries, would shine a light of understanding in them. The life after death question. Whether god exists? Whether this or that religion is a lie or a truth? I surmise that christianity is all a big lie, because there is no validity to any of christianity’s claims. While there is some evidence about the person that came to be known as Jesus, it is quite a different story (to Christianity’s), that may be the true story. www.tjresearch.info >> The unifying truth is that all men are equal, and mankind >> faces the same problems, as always – getting along with one another. >Tilt. >How does ""the rest of the world is wacko""" fit in "all equal? >If all are wacko then so would you be, to make it "all are equal". >If the problem you see is that men can not get along, how does affirming >that everyone else -the rest of the world- is wacko contributing to mking >all men get along??

It is the status quo view of the world that is wacko, to fails to explain everything clearly. There are all sorts of political motives behind this or that teaching. You know that science was a late starter due to the hold of christianity. Early scientists knew their ideas was too radical for christianity, and a few noted scientists held off publishing their ideas, until very late in life, when it didn’t matter anymore what the church did to them. I did not see it as discourteous, but maybe rather as disconnected. As for "answering every point and question of mine", *that* is not discourteous. It is rude, belittling, arrogant. There is a difference between answering every point and answering a straight question. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> There is truth, and then there is ‘truth’. Sorry to ask again but…Where is the *******unifying******** truth in there? To word it differently: where can that "truth" be **unifying***, when under it, your statements are about you *against* the rest of the world, and where a **division** (not unity) betwen you and the world is further stressed in "wacko" terms:?  >  >> – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->>Just pasting this here again, as it was left unanswered, and gives me an >>impression of "lack of dialogue" and lack of communication. Sorry if I appeared discourteous in not answering every point and question of yours. There is truth, and then there is ‘truth’. Which is so complicated that it would take a very very very long post/reply/etc to get on the same wavelength, as to what truth is and is about. There would be such a thing as absolute truth – which I don’t think this world knows about, but is only glimpsed at, here and there. Everyone wants to own something or take credit for it, such as to gain something from ‘it’. You know the story about history, that different people write history differently, and often the most accurate is that from an impartial source. American history is better written by an Englishman for instance, and likewise for English history. Absolute truth would harmonise all the mysteries and knock down all the myths (and most religions) in this world. I do collect information, such as a videotape library of this or that item, that was broadcast at some time. It’s not complete or that extensive, due to lack of funds, etc. Some people may think I latch onto ‘waco’ ideas as such, but I’ve been this way for the greater part of my life — taking interest in ‘mysteries’ that can be explained. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Just pasting this here again, as it was left unanswered, and gives me an >impression of "lack of dialogue" and lack of communication. UFOs and ETs are part of the answer, as it helps to fill in on our history, and the history of the earth. And to ponder about them, helps us focus upon ourselves, how this planet is backward despite it’s scientific and advances in knowledge, etc. And they are part of the truth. War is stupid, and nothing is settled with ‘war’. We’ve had enough wars on this planet, in which the common thread of it, is all too apparent. It is all about ‘politics’ ie. ‘power’. The Enlightened Individual versus the Benighted Masses. It’s a common theme, esp. in Romantic literature (Blake, Byron). In the 20th century and particularly post C20 experience with various "enlightened leaders" cum part-time mass-murderers, it tends to be treated a bit more critically or ambivalently (Salinger, Hesse). I’m with Larkin in concluding that the most we can aspire to is the state of being (a little) "less deceived". It begins with the important discovery that Feeling Uniquely Enlightened is a fairly commonplace and easily reproducible mental state, accessible to most everyone via the simple expedient of downing a few pints of good liquor in an out-of-the-way bar. "Feeling oneself to be so" and "being so" turn out, unfortunately, to be two entirely different animals. For a claim to Unusual Enlightenment to have any credibility outside the subculture of goggle-eyed wacky sects that Harvey likes to frequent, one really has no option but to "come on down" from the mists of Olympus and trundle one’s wares out into the marketplace of ideas, peer-reviewing an’ all. In Harvey’s case, since all his ideas are second-hand and most are remarkably silly, such an experience could well prove discomfiting. Hence the latest signs of defensive retreat into crypto-solipsism. This is not healthy. I prescribe a dusky brunette with huge tits. ("It Worked For Me")

The truth about war, is to realise the truth about war. We’ve just had our Anzac observation here, the 90th year celebration of the failed Gallipoli landings in Turkey in the first World War, in which a lot of men lost their lives with an ill planned and ill conceived beach landing plan. The real story is not really about the bungling British High Command of the time, but how innocent men had to do their ‘duty’ and die. The Turks lost far more men and this is duly noted. The politics was all screwed up as well. Harvey – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->> Harvey >–

Just pasting this here again, as it was left unanswered, and gives me an impression of "lack of dialogue" and lack of communication. Feels like a monologue played at the occasion of a reply. It also sort of needs answered before I can get to your words in ths post, that start with more of the same affirmation, without any dialogue having been established the forst time around to set the basis of a communication. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> We have to call our governments into order, to look after > this planet better than they are, under corporations > and governments. >> > And I’ve come to straighten that out, or >>try to. > >>> Retrospectively 1986–>1989 has been the peak >>> period in which I did do something at that time, >>> making my mark here, perhaps things won’t kick >>> off for me again, until next year? >>> In which my true purpose here will be revealed. >>> That magic number in one’s life, in which one >>> feels one’s true purpose is realised. >>> Sorry that I’m sounding rather obscure here, >>> but obscurity was my trademark for a while, >>> a long time ago. >>How could obscurity be enlightment…? > The greatest truths are obscure –

That actually is not the common sense. The common sense has it that  truth is enlighting, not obscure. > the truth is obscure,

Again, I never ever found so, and my experience is that most poeple find truth clear and clarifying. >>> We are all here to be ‘ourselves’ >>Hopw is that compatible with only you being right and the rest of the >>world being wrong and blind and so on…? >>Is it that we all can be ourself so long as we think the same way…??? >>Sounds incompatible to me, that…. > I think we align ourselves to certain ideas/truths/thinking/etc. > Robert Wise made the ‘The Day the Earth Stool Still’ because he > loved the script, and it went along with his ideas about UFOs, etc.

I repeated that here as the question was not about UFOs nor authors. It was about your words and how they were at times seemingly contradicting themself: on one hand you said we all were here to *be ourself*. On the other you say that the entire world (the total of selves in the world) were all wrong to think as they were, which presupposes they all would be wrong to differ from you. How then is that judgement of value fitting the allowing for everyone to be here to just be *themself*, and not *yourself*? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->> and to simply >>> be made into a cog into society etc is a cop out. >>> Real imagination and inventiveness demands that you >>> don’t be that way at all. >>> And the world does need straightening out, particularly >>> the USA. That sounds like a totology to me. Whatever the truth about war woudl be, it would remain th truth bout war, that some realize it or that no one ever does. You talk about war, and about a unifying truth. I say there is no *unifying* truth about war. Meaning here: "Where is the unifyign truth you say this belief of yours is all about?". Back to question one, which was left unanswered.  > We’ve just had our Anzac observation here, the 90th year > celebration of the failed Gallipoli landings in Turkey in > the first World War, in which a lot of men lost their > lives with an ill planned and ill conceived beach landing > plan. > The real story is not really about the bungling British > High Command of the time, but how innocent men had to do > their ‘duty’ and die. Question:

So you agree that Islamic governments should allow people to build churches and temples for different religions, and also allow people of other faiths to preach their religion freely ? Dean G.

Response:

Many Jews, Christians and Hindus insist on spreading lies and hoaxes against Islam and especially against our beloved and blessed Prophet, Muhammad peace be upon him. Quick Noble Verses that refute the terrorism LIE in Islam:

Quran is a mess. A schitzophrenic rambling lie. [2:89][The curse of Allah is on the unbelievers] [3:28][Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends] [3:85][And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him] [3:118][Do not take for intimate friends from among others than your own people] [5.51][Do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other] [9:14][Fight against the Jews and Christians! Allah shall punish Them, at your hands] [9.29][Fight those who do not believe in Allah] [9:73][Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites! Be harsh with them] [9.123][Fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness] [19:40][It is We Who will inherit the earth, and all beings thereon: to Us will they all be returned] [33.64][Allah has cursed the unbelievers and has prepared for them a burning fire] [41:27][We will certainly give the Unbelievers a taste of a severe Penalty] [47.35][Be not slack so as to cry for peace and you have the upper hand] [58:5][Those who resist Allah and His Messenger will be crumbled to dust, as were those before them] [66: 9][O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be stern with them]

Matthew 7:15  "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. Matthew 24:11  And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 2Peter 2:1  But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. Ezekiel 13:9  My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who give lying divinations. They shall not be in the council of my people, nor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord GOD. May God forgive you Faris for spreading the false teachings of Muhammad.

Many Jews, Christians and Hindus insist on spreading lies and hoaxes against Islam and especially against our beloved and blessed Prophet, Muhammad peace be upon him. Quick Noble Verses that refute the terrorism LIE in Islam: "Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loveth not transgressors.  (The Noble Quran, 2:190)" "But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in God: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things).  (The Noble Quran, 8:61)" "If thou dost stretch thy hand against me, to slay me, it is not for me to stretch my hand against thee to slay thee: for I do fear God, the cherisher of the worlds.  (The Noble Quran, 5:28)" "God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers.  (The Noble Quran, 60:8)" "And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for God. But if they desist, then let there be no hostility except against wrongdoers.  (The Noble Quran 2:193)" "Let there be no compulsion in religion:  Truth stands out clear from error:  whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy handhold, that never breaks.  And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.  (The Noble Quran, 2:256)" "Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to God’s will) in Islam.   Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them).  (The Noble Quran, 15:2-3)" "Say, ‘The truth is from your Lord’: Let him who will believe, and let him who will, reject (it):……(The Noble Quran, 18:29)" "If it had been thy Lord’s will, they would all have believed,- all who are on earth! wilt thou then COMPEL mankind, against their will, to believe!  (The Noble Quran, 10:99)" "Say: ‘Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger: but if ye turn away, he is only responsible for the duty placed on him and ye for that placed on you.   If ye obey him, ye shall be on right guidance.  The Messenger’s duty is only to preach the clear (Message).  (The Noble Quran, 24:54)" "Say : O ye that reject Faith!  I worship not that which ye worship, Nor will ye worship that which I worship.  And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship, Nor will ye worship that which I worship.  To you be your Way, and to me mine.  (The Noble Quran, 109:1-6)" Note on the "Jihad" Noble Verses: The so-called "Jihad" Noble Verses came for specific times and places. They don’t apply for all times and everybody!  I can’t slay you, a non-Muslim, just because you’re not a Muslim.  The pagan Arabs were very hostile people and only knew the sword as an answer.  Many wars were imposed upon the Muslims, and thus, it is only normal and natural to find Noble Verses that deal with these specific hostile situations. But the Ultimate and Overall Message of the Noble Quran is PEACE, as clearly proven in the Noble Verses above.
