Question:

The following is the text of a letter which, Insh’allah, will soon be mailed to the president of the United States: Dear Mr. President, First of all, my sincere congratulations on assuming the office of President of the United States. (I must admit that I breathe somewhat more easily knowing that the ‘grown-ups’ are back in Washington, and that there is now someone in the office of President who at least appears to have a genuine appreciation for the over-riding importance of the Moral Law.) Secondly, however, welcome to hell… The near-term eruption of a regional military conflict in the Middle East as a direct consequence of Bill Clinton’s desperate and arrogant attempts to be the ‘M’essiah: focusing almost exclusively on attempts at achieving a lasting Peace between Israelis and Palestinians while simply *ignoring*– for all practical purposes–the escalating deterioration of the situation in Iraq, Iran, Jordan, Syria, India, Pakistan, Russia, China and North Korea. It is, of course, unfortunate, that what will soon happen in the Middle East did not happen on the ‘watch’ of those politicians and diplomats in the United States who are most directly responsible for this tragic state of af- fairs. But, at the same time, I would much prefer in the office of President an honest man with an appreciation of Moral values but little foreign policy experience than a man with many years of experience but no appreciation of the fact that there IS a "controlling ‘L’egal authority": an ‘Angel that rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm’, as so beautifully described by John Page. Given, then, the collapse of a Middle East ‘peace process’ which has been so assiduously nurtured by Bill Clinton over the past 7 years–a ‘peace process’ founded upon the standard Western secular-political paradigm–I would strongly caution you against the expectation that this conflict can in ANY way be resolved either by the politicians and diplomats or by the reigning religious authorities without *first* resolving the theological conflicts between Judaism, Christianity and Islam on the basis of  a return to the fundamental Revelations of the Torah, the Prophets, the Gospels and the Koran as I have *specifically* set out on my web page at: http://www.geocities.com:80/Athens/Rhodes/7031/deadsea.html That is, it is precisely the obstinate refusal to consider the fundamental religious issues involved in this conflict (which, of course, is the founda- tion stone of the Oslo "peace process" or the Madrid "land for peace" process)–coupled with an unbridled and boundless arrogance of power by media officials, politicians and religious officials–which has resulted in the greatest foreign policy nightmare *ever* to be bequeathed by an outgoing administration to an incoming administration in this country. Given that my associate, Kimberly O’Neill, has not received even so much as one substantive reply to the letters she sent to the members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on December 20 and 28th and on January 17, 2001–or to the letters she sent on December 31, 2000 to then Vice President Gore and then Secretary of Defense William Cohen– I would encourage you to contact me as soon as possible (e-mail address: (deleted) or TX: (deleted) for the purpose of setting up an appointment with me and my associates for discussing these issues in greater detail… I am particularly concerned, by the way, on the present state of relations between the United States and Iran. Sincerely, Michael Cecil P.S. Previous letters and/or messages to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and to the Vice President and Secretary of Defense in the prev- ious administration were subsequently forwarded to dozens of media outlets around the world as well as to a number of discussion groups on the Internet. Copies of this letter have already been sent to a number of discussion groups on the Internet; and I fully intend to send copies of any future communications with this administration to discussion groups on the Inter- net until such time as it becomes unambiguously CLEAR to me that this information is being considered seriously by those in positions of political power in this country.
