Christianity QA » Islam Christianity » Jesus Loves the Atheist
Question:
First of all, I would like to thank Allah for all of the Christians here who are his creation, just like the muslems. Many times muslems forget that Muhammed loves the Christian too.
See, this is the good stuff… You’ve got Mohammed preaching tolerance for ALL monotheistic religions, and Judeo-Christian doctrine heavily laced with "love they neighbor" overtones… It’s good, wholesome, loving stuff for the whole family until… …we get the bigoted Christians, Right Wing Orthodox Jews, and Fundamentalists Muslims using the same books and the same doctrines, to justify hate campaigns against one another. If ever there was evidence that religion is an absolute farce, it’s how easily it bends to justify whatever action seems most appealing at the time.

I’ve always wanted to put them all in one big arena, and let them duke it out for the good of humanity… Jeff – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – If ever there was evidence that religion is an absolute farce, it’s how easily it bends to justify whatever action seems most appealing at the time.

So, does the fact that some will misrepresent the Faith, to twist it’s teachings to their own advantage, invalidate the Faith? Just because there are so many phony $20 bills in circulation will you forego using real money to make transactions? I don’t think so. On the contrary, it is because money does have a certain value in our system that it makes it worthwhile for some (for a little while) to counterfeit it. Have you ever seen a counterfeit of a paper bag? Since there is so little value in one, hardly anyone counterfeits it. (They may be useful, but they don’t cost much.) On the same token, it is because the Faith actually does have value that it is possible for evil people to counterfeit it, and falsely use it to justify their actions. IF the Faith was truly such a farce, as is claimed, then there would be no value for evil people to counterfeit it. As far as the 3 Faiths mentioned, may I point out that Christianity has it’s roots in Judaism. Our disagreement with them has only to do with our acceptance of Jesus as the Messiah and their rejection of Him. And, even Islam claims it’s roots from one of the sons of Abraham as well. As the original poster pointed out, hatred is not one of their foundational principles. God Bless Carl – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –

Stop posting your drivel in alt.atheism! We don’t care anymore about Jesus than you care about Allah. Telling us that "Jesus loves us", is off-topic and disrespectful. Why are you attributing these comments to me? I never made them! Anyway… Just because there are so many phony $20 bills in circulation will you forego using real money to make transactions? I don’t think so.
No, but in Christianity’s case its quite a different situation. First of all, there IS such a thing as a REAL $20 bill delivered by a KNOWN and REAL higher authority. But imagine the "authority" that is supposed to issue $20 bills was invisible, supposedly omnipotent, probably non-existant and all the $20 bills look different but everyone claims that their’s are real? When someone forges a $20 bill, its clear. We know what a REAL $20 bill, and the government will STOP those who attempt to circulate false $20 bills, which makes perfect sense. I have NEVER seen God try to stop any phonies. And considering that He’s supposed to be perfect and omnipotent that begs the question… Jeff – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – On the contrary, it is because money does have a certain value in our system that it makes it worthwhile for some (for a little while) to counterfeit it. I think the argument wasn’t that faith bended, but that it bended *that* easily. One should believe that if faith really was a way to concieve reality, people having it wouldn’t make such mistakes. On the contrary, it is because money does have a certain value in our system that it makes it worthwhile for some (for a little while) to counterfeit it. Incorrect. Hate and intolerance will always be in high demand, whether it’s usefull or not. (snip rest) — Morgan aa# not yet Replace "my-deja" with "yahoo" to reply. Before you buy.

Good point. If all horoscopes were nonsense, then there’s be no value in unscupulous people using it to their advantage. Ditto for phrenology, irridology, auras, astral projection, dianetics, and all of the quack medicines of the world.
