Question:
- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – It is extraordinary how the creationists hate Darwin so much. He is just one, though very significant, biologist in a long chain of scientists who have helped our understanding of the origins of the Universe and of life. The real argument of the creationists should be with Copernicus, Galileo, Newton and the many others who led us to the Hubble telescope. Now we have some concept of our insignificant place in the Universe which may be infinite. Heliocentrism was reasonable at the time given the observational data. Galileo never met the purely scientific objections to his theory, such as the question "if the earth is spinning that fast why don’t people fall off"? Scientists knew about centrifugal force, but this was long before Newton’s theory of gravity. http://www.theLightOfHeaven.com
Like all good scientists, Galileo knew that he did not have all the answers. Thinking in terms of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, one can imagine the Sun travelling around the Earth, provided that you are making your assumption from the position of the observer. It is unlikely that there are any on the Sun. Bernard.

It is extraordinary how the creationists hate Darwin so much. He is just one, though very significant, biologist in a long chain of scientists who have helped our understanding of the origins of the Universe and of life. In the Middle ages, mariners and astronomers knew that the Earth was a sphere, but both Christianity and Islam were taught on the basis of a flat earth, with heaven above and hell below. Life was a game of snakes and ladders. No matter how often we climbed up the short ladders, soon we slithered down a long snake to Hell. The real argument of the creationists should be with Copernicus, Galileo, Newton and the many others who led us to the Hubble telescope. Now we have some concept of our insignificant place in the Universe which may be infinite. Recently, the Pope grudgingly admitted, after 300 years, that Galileo might be right and that he had no problem with evolution. Does a Creatorix exit? We don’t know. She may have programmed us so that we will never know. Bernard
