[...] Nope. IMHO many of the things jesus said are spiritual truths and stand on their own independently of whether or not you believe that he was the son of god, etc. I like the gospel of thomas quite a lot. The nag hammadi library is interesting. Lisa

[...] Absolutely IMHO. Many of the things which jesus said IMHO can stand as spiritual truths on their own independent of the context of the christian religion and beliefs in ‘christ as savior’, etc. I did not really start reading the bible until after I had ‘made my own descent’ (you know what I mean) and had started to begin to cope with what was happening there. When I started to read the bible, I realized that yeah – some of the things that jesus was saying, they worked – and I knew that because I had done them myself in order to survive ‘the descent’ *before i ever started really reading the bible*. ‘know thyself’. How can one know thyself if one does not drop into one’s own personal hellspace and work on bringing back ‘into one’ all the stuff there that has been forgotten about, neglected, thrust aside because it ‘was not pretty’, etc.?? How can one be whole if  one doesn’t do this? Lisa Lisa

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. — -Please reply to newsgroup.
