I agree Gypsy.I have been a bit tyaken back by the hostility on this site and the satanic stuff what is that?Anyway about 10 percent yeild something i am interested in. I do not see any religion being better than another!  Maybe I am just naive. My problem is that I did not grow up with a religion stuffed down my throat, and had a hard time believing in "The Bible".  I had to look at it like this. ( These are only my thoughts.  I am not trying to degrade anyone else’s beliefs)   The bible is nothing but symbolism.  Like this…Did Jesus really heal the leaper?  Or did he accept the leaper, and through acceptance the healing started?   I do not believe that Jesus was any better than anyone else.  I feel he was a teacher.  Teacher who taught acceptance and love.  ( acceptance of the leaper, the blind, the poor, the whore!!!)  He was human.  If like it is said we are all gods children, then he was no better than myself?  Because of this I can not sit in a church!  I can not be force feed the BS that they try to preach. (they know best..I am a born sinner, and need to saved??)  I do not go for people that can "sin" all week, and say sorry on Sunday, and it makes everything better!  I believe in some of the teachings that Jesus tried to spread.  Was he this great being that I should Worship?  I do not know.  That is why I am trying to find something else.  Something that I can feel comfortable with.  Isn’t that why there are different religions….to search for a place where your beliefs fit in?  I am glad that we can discuss the differences.  Or I would never be here trying to learn another way to believe?  I am not even sure I fit here. But I want to learn more.  So back to the topic, I think it is ok to challenge another’s beliefs, maybe people on both side can learn!  It is only the ones who do it with a closed attacking mind, that bothers me! I used to try to abide by that line of thinking but then I realised that it was quite hypocritical. (I’m not attacking you here by the way – just explaining my stance.) There’s no *objective* truth in my saying that my path is better than the others of course. But for reasons known only to me I think and feel that it is. My dearest Gypsy,     I couldn’t agree with you more in your misunderstanding. However, people are just people and that difference of path is also just the same as a difference of opinion. One very different opinion is enjoyment of those posts. Sooner or later, you participate or ignore them. To ask will not get more than a string which will turn into its subject. Out back of my house there is a squirrel and a giant mane coon tomcat. The squirrel is always chattering and flaming the cat from his wall and the cat watches him intently, knowing that no matter how much flaming the squirrel does that he could kill his ass with one swat if he chose, and the squirrel was stupid enough to think his bravado was more than just a vocalized power trip.. The squirrel also likes to show how tough he is when i have a coffee in the patio and gets up high and chatters his ass off at me, obviously displeased with my presence and satisfied with his telling me off. Then the mockingbird comes and lands on the peak of the roof of the squirrels building. They never fuss each other but the mockingbird will imitate the call of every other bird to fake them into thinking another of their species has claimed a bite of territory. Now..by imitating many species he cuts out the intrusion into his territory for foods by a greater margin. Then buzzy the bumblebee stands guard in the patio. We have seen eye to eye dozens of times. She will not let any other buzzing insect into the garden and chases them all out. She is a perfect guardian. She asks no quarter and gives none and has some weight to her ass. The funny thing is the hostility is at a low right now *chuckle*.  You have to dig through the threads to find ones that off value or flat out ask questions (usually you will get an answer although some you may have to take with a grain of salt).  You also have to remember this is a public NG that is unmoderated and that ppl come in all types. Two things in regards to the Satanic posts A) The bulk/spam posts were made by someone spaming the NG and not a by a resident here B) The other convo’s that are cross posted with alt.satanism is applicable to that thread in order to discuss the differences between Wicca, Paganism and Satanism.  This seems to be fairly constructive and OT b/c mainstream society misrepresents Wicca, Paganism and Satanism all the time.  Specifically thinking Wicca/Paganism is Satanism. Anyway, if something interests you then post a question even if it comes out from left field (although I can’t promise the answers you will get). Mostly, with this NG, you get what you put into it. Final note: Most NG have trolls and this one is inhabited by RBB.  Best to just ignore her/his/it’s post.  There are other ppl some consider trolls, such as Brock, however, while his behaviour at times has been rude he has stuck around and has, on occasion, offered up something to think about it. Anyway, instead of pointing out the negatives why don’t you join in the fray, start a thread etc or you can just decided to live and perhaps look into a moderated group…less colorful but probably more OT. And after posting about the main coon tomcat, the squirrel and the mockingbirds, I went to get the mail and the tomcat was in the bonsai pine right below the mockingbirds nest and the birds were on the wire bitching him and flaming him bigtime. I can only say that it happens in the Christian faith too.  My in-laws are Lutheran, and cut on Catholics, and Baptists.  LOL  When I debate with my father in Law I love bringing that up!  By the way my Mother in law sent me this picture of Jesus on a cross, and a poem about how horrible the world is due to no prayer in school.  I hate getting forwards like that.  I am not against the Christian religion.  I just do not like the hypocrite people who hide behind it, as a way to justify their hate!!!   Anyway I half to figure a way to tell her that it bothers me.

Good point. I’ve been exploring the historical relationship between witchcraft and paganism for the last ten years. The difference is more one of perception and ignorance. But Christian, Jewish and Muslim sectarians are guilty of much the same

Good point. In fact I’ve researched the close relationship between paganism and witchcraft for the last ten years. The difference between them nowadays is largely one of perception, or ignorance of historical facts. But then again, I suppose Christian, Jewish and Muslim sectarians are guilty of much the same thing.
