Of course, the question really becomes:  in the end, does God consider them a Christian group?  Judging them by their fruits and all that…

Since God ain’t saying, that’s really not a useful formulation of the question for our purposes. Judging by fruits is all well and good, but first you have to figure out which fruit came from which tree.  Then you have to figure out if the tree is bad, or just the branch.

uhh, the question should read, does any religion have the right to endorse/preach/condone such activity. i doubt anyone being burnt at the stake or being tortured to permit salvation would really be concerned with what the person they didn’t believe in to start with thinks. still, that does not mean you or the majority wish that, nor do i presume to declare it so.  don’t kow.  if they wish to come for this old geezer with that in mind, they will leave with far fewer than came, & hopefully with the majority maimed severely.  though ethically, if i am obliged to come to your defense [if practical] in the same circumstances.  & yes, given how many people are born followers or easily manipulated, it can happen.  hopefully not.   take care, strive to be happy. the politically incorrect

I believe that Mutt’s saying NOW… not like, years, decades, etc. ago!! I doubt he’s saying that decades ago they weren’t… but they aren’t now… As I’ve said in another post, most Christians I’ve met now would probably be more realistically named neo-Christians, or pagans with Christianity as a core religion… they believe the goodnesses of Christianity.. not the Love Thy Neighbor, broil them lovingly in the Holy Flames of Cleansing… but just Love Thy Neighbor.  You know, like neo-Druids (NOT bashing on Druids) who think that the olden druids were completely peaceful and nice, and would cuddle widdle rabbits and never eat meat, and never harm a living thing… as I’ve said in that post, again, we’ve got to remember the past, but not let it’s memory shackle us to past injustices and fail to move ahead.    Sorry about you having a snert sister. I wouldn’t tell her anything about your religion, or your mom’s. Xians are commanded to hate their families in order to follow jayzus. What the hell are you talking about Man? The Christian faith does not command it’s followers to hate non-Christian family members. My (Christian) family still loves me, even though I’m a pagan.
