Christianity QA » Christian Faith » Democrat Liberal Ted Turner cuts down his religious employees

Question:

They’ll let him off for his remarks, much as they’re giving Senator Byrd a pass for his ku klux klan background and recent "white nigger" comments.

Response:

That Turner mouth, again A Boston Herald editorial Friday, March 9, 2001 Remember all of the Democrats who were incensed when George W. Bush spoke at Bob Jones University during the campaign? Where are they now that Ted Turner is once again parading his bigotry? Democrats professed to be shocked by Bush’s appearance at a school whose president had made derogatory comments about the Catholic Church. (Bush later apologized.) On Ash Wednesday, the CNN founder spotted some staff members with ashes on their foreheads. Turner called the employees “Jesus freaks” and asked, “Shouldn’t you guys be working for Fox?” The media mogul is a repeat offender. Turner once told an interviewer that Christianity “is a religion for losers.” So why aren’t Democrats on Turner’s case? Why aren’t the pundits of page and tube after Turner with tar and feathers, the way they attacked Atlanta pitcher John Rocker for his intolerant remarks last year? It appears that anti-Catholicism can be overlooked if the bigot is a bona fide paid-up card-carrying cause-financing member of the liberal fraternity.  Top News Headlines March 9, 2001 — 9:26 am Ted Turner Attacks Christianity At U.N.
