Christianity QA » Christian Church » To the gay persons who freguent this group – a question
Question:
Perhaps, but you *are* the interloper in the newsgroup, not she.
This is not a newsgroup "for" Catholicism. This is a newsgroup *about* Catholicism. So how do you presume to define who the "interloper" is? Jeff Shirton

Please do remember that when the Church or heterosexuals in general wish to make pronouncements on the lives and character of gay people that the Church and heterosexuals in general are interlopers. Remember that when Caen Cardinal Ratzinger comes to San Francisco, the on city on Earth that has declared itself a refuge for gay people, and condemns us and tells us we have no right to peaceably assemble, that your Church is the interloper.
Response:
The stance against gays and lesbians, like that of married priests and women priests, is not necessarily a discipline that will stand forever,
Of the three things you mentioned, only the one about married priests refers to a changeable discipline. Women priests falls into the category of something that has never been approved, nor can it be, as the Church in this is only following the example of Christ. Homosexual activity is a sin, and will always be a sin.

True, but I still fail to see why people ask a question, only to ignore the answer. Shows to me that they never want to learn the answer. Which always makes me ask, why, what do they fear? Alan Ferris. — Karen Growing old is inevitable. Growing up is still an option.

Test – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – The United Church of Christ in Boston is planning to ordain two lesbians and one trans-gender individual next year. They have male gay ministers already. If you are Christian, that would seem to be a church you would enjoy. If you think the Catholic church is wrong, why not join the UCC? This is nothing new. The Episcopal Diocese of California has numerous gays and lesbians as clergy. I believe the same is true for many Episcopal dioceses throughout the country. Probably the principal reason why the UCC has little attraction to catholics is that it lacks all the historical foundations of the Christian Church: Episcopal collegiality, consensus of the faithful, venerable tradition, and the holy scriptures. Perhaps the UCC has most of the catholic scriptures, but not all of them, and it doesn’t take seriously to offer the sacrifice of the Eucharist in which Christ’s Body and Blood become the spiritual food for our earthly pilgrimage. Most of us love and respect the Church, for she is not just an institution, but also an organism. She is the Body and Bride of Christ, in both the mystical and literal senses. She has continued the commission given to the apostles and has remained faithful in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers. But her institutional side, as is often the case, is ultramontane and ultra-disciplinarian, despite scriptural injunctions against both. So while she has authentic bishops, presbyters, and deacons, some of them have gone off the deep end, and we’re here to give those she marginalizes a voice. This Pope and his hatchet man will pass. Indeed, many shameless Popes and bishops have held office in the Church, and despite their wretched lives and unholy unorthodox practices, the Church purdue because of a guarantee given her from the beginning. Christ commissioned one set of apostles and instituted but one Church, and those who have its properties from the beginning continue in that Church. The stance against gays and lesbians, like that of married priests and women priests, is not necessarily a discipline that will stand forever, and even if it does, those of faith know such adverse influences may be detrimental to others, but not to the faithful. The UCC is a relative novice in spiritual affairs and has undergone so many reincarnations it’s difficult to know what spiritual affairs it intends to nurture. If you find it a vehicle for your own spirituality, I cannot fight experience; but when it comes to the Church that Christ established on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, the catholic Church is it. Kind regards, D. Stephen Heersink San Francisco

If it’s "Catholic silence" you want, then why post to a Catholic group? That was the point of the thread, I believe.
