Question:
Remember, with God all things are possible, When was this last demonstrated to a logical conclusion?
You have your Bible as testimony to that. As far as me personally. He took me for the totally lousy selfish scumbag I was and cleansed me of all unrighteousness, and created in me a clean heart and renewed a right Spirit in me. Created and renewed. I am reminded though that many religious men preach of creating and renewing, creating and renewing, creating and renewing, and do not believe that God can go beyond that, right here, right now. Well, I know otherwise. The creating and renewing ‘process’ salesmen use that theology to try and mask the fact that they desire to keep that old lousy selfish scumbag nature. They will be sorted out in due time. Still, the truth remains…with God, all things are possible. My Sons are born of Me. They are My Spirit. In them is no darkness at all.

The Holy Spirit will guide you to the truth. You mean it doesn’t work all the time? What doesn’t work all the time? If you don’t have the Spirit dwelling in you, then you will never be at peace about anything.
Is there some way to make this holy spirit thing work all the time for everybody? Maybe you could get God to change his attitude. I became a newly saved christian last april/02, and I found some bible translations hard to understand. Don’t worry. Your minister will be happy to tell you what he wants them to mean. I don’t live for wisdom from my minister/pastor. I get my own revelation first hand, from the Holy Spirit. From the Word of God.
By that, I understand you to be saying that you decide for yourself what you want the Bible to say. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I started out with the KJV, then the NKJV, NIV, The Message, NASB, Amplified, and now am reading from the NLT. Its all the same thing. Talking about the same thing. When I want a good swift kick in the head and the light to shine on my sins(and even when I don’t)I read the Amplified-its hard to ignore. I mainly read from the New Living Translation right now. I study along with the AMP, and the NKJV. It doesn’t exactly matter which version you read from. The Spirit will guide you to truth. Not if you get so drunk as to pass out. If you want financial blessings-read whichever version-your faith and belief will still set God in motion to bless you. Same with blessings of healing-whatever. Whichever version of scripture is better for you, and which one ’speaks’ to you better-the better it will be in your christian walk and growing relationship with Jesus. Start off with the pablum(or as you claim-white washed scriptures)and work your way up to the more solid food. A new christian may not be able to handle KJV. Know what I mean brother? Remember, don’t drive while under the influence of the spirit. Why not? Its better to know how to function while drunk in the Spirit, becuse then God can use you for ministering purposes.
It’s not God that is using you. Its not like I’m going to crash my car while drunk in the Spirit and get hurt, or hurt anyone else.
Christians do hurt people when in mythology mode. If you’re such an atheist and don’t believe in God, what makes you better than anyone else?
I’m the only me there is. Satan believes in God.
Satan is God’s scapegoat. Why don’t you? You believe in Satan don’t you?
There is no reason why I should. -Barry Web page: http://members.optusnet.com.au/~barry.og Atheist, radio scanner, LIPD information. Voicemail/fax number +14136227640

If you read deeper into the original message and my subsequent replies you would see that this is not about translations, Ole. But since you asked the question… And he never said it was hard for Saul to kick against the pricks. Why would he?
Because He knew Paul’s heart. And because it happens to be the truth in the Spirit. My Sons are born of Me. They are My Spirit. In them is no darkness at all.

The main reason modern translations differ greatly from the KJV is that KJV is a terribly bad translation. Take verse 9:5 from Acts for instance. This verse in Greek has thirteen words. The English "translation" in the KJV has twentyseven, more than twice as many, including things that’re just not there in the original Greek. All the stuff about kicking against the pricks are things that has been added later to paint the passage with more lively colours. The sentance "It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks" is highly theological, or perhaps rather educational in nature. It should have been a footnote, if mentioned at all, not ascribed to Jesus, for he didn’t say it. How could anyone believe that Jesus said anything of what he said if we continue to ascribe to him words he never said? Stick to the original and cast away what is corrupted. And KJV is highly corrupted when it comes to translation. I would say that KJV isn’t a translation at all, it’s an interpretation and a bad one. In Revelation for instance, KJV sees no difference between Hades (the unseen state, land of the dead) and Gehenna (the pit of fire, the place of eternal torture). It calls Seraphim angels beasts, and it adds and subtracts words as if to show that the original text is insufficient, something which it is not. Acts 9:5 mirror a school of theology hopefully long gone. The school of scriporial forgery The more modern the translation, the more watered down the Scriptures become.
Wrong. Many modern translations are translations based on the original Greek source material, not second hand theological interpretations like the Latin Vulgate or the Greek Septuaghint etc. and the winds of change. If you are to argue about scriporial authenticity, try comparing KJV to the original Greek and Hebrew. You’d be astonished to see how greatly it differs in many cases. Some times for the better other times for the worse. But no matter how you put it, no translation will ever be good enough. So, it is not important that the Lord says, "It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks" or that Paul was trembling and astonished, or that Paul was humbled to say, ‘What wilt thou have me to
It sure is important for you, but no matter how you put it: a forgery is a forgery. Go to the original Greek. The lines you mention has been added to stop the mouths of arguing theologicans. KJV is a diplomatic masterpiece, not a translation. You better come to know the Spirit of the Scriptures instead of trying to design your own salvation with altered Scriptures and home-grown theology.
Right put. So stop claiming that KJV is right. I know how it works, this spirit of the scriptures you mention. Acts 9 is a prime example of how KJV has taken it’s freedom way over the line and made the spirits speek lies without knowing it themselves. A lie doesn’t become more true when it is repeated. Jesus is the Word of God, He is a person.
And he never said it was hard for Saul to kick against the pricks. Why would he? It became quite obvious didn’t it? Suddenly Jesus appears in light and great might and makes Saul blind and numb. How could Saul kick against anything in such a condition? That the middle age English priests wanted to feed the public with tea spoons rather than having to argue over theological matters with them is highly understandable, but I’m afraid it’s not justifiable. Holy scriptures are sacred, so don’t alter them for your own good, it’ll come back in your face like shame. God bless you in the name of Jesus Christ!
